ACIS has appointed Damon Curtis as business development director to continue to forge greater collaboration between vehicle manufacturers (VM), insurers and the independent bodyshop sector, as part of the continued growth across the organisation.

Leicester-born Damon, who has almost 40 years’ experience in the automotive distribution sector, joins the market-leading national network for added-value products and services to the accident repair market from National Independent Bodyshop Supplies (NIBS), where he was sales director.

Prior to NIBS, Damon, who is married with an automotive apprentice son, spent seven years as head of strategic sales for LKQ Coatings.

Damon, who started his new role on August 1, will carry out a complementary role to recently promoted Ian Dalgarno, who is in charge of business development in the north of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Damon said: “ACIS is a business focussed on growth, not just in sales, but in terms of looking to forge greater collaboration between all the partners in the accident repair market – from ACIS members through to vehicles manufacturers, insurers and bodyshops.

“This change is being enabled by the greater use of technology, an area where ACIS is already a market leader in because it is helping bodyshops to help themselves to be more efficient and profitable, on a daily basis.”

Under the new structure, Damon and Ian will focus on new business development, supported on a day-to-day basis by Ryan O’Neill, ACIS’s national account manager. Ryan has been providing vital training on the ACIS portal, including the implementation of ASCRIBE, the stock management tool which drives an average of 20 per cent efficiency savings across participating bodyshops.

Graham O’Neill, chief executive of ACIS, said: “It is a real industry coup to bring Damon into the ACIS fold. His depth of knowledge and strategic thinking will help the business build stronger relationships as part of our growing influence. He understands the distribution business back to front and is a strong communicator from the boardroom table to the bodyshop bench.”
